A Land for Films.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Chosen as the official visual for its 29th edition, Carmen Jaquier&#8217;s film &#8220;Foudre&#8221;, shot in Valais and representing Switzerland at the 2024 Oscars, will take center stage at this 2023 edition!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Summer 1900, in a valley in southern Switzerland. Elisabeth is seventeen and preparing to take her vows when the sudden death of her older sister forces her to return to her family and the life of hard work she had left five years earlier to enter a convent. Elisabeth is no longer a child, and the mysteries surrounding her sister&#8217;s death will drive her to fight for her right to experience.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.valaisfilmcommission.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Foudre.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8514\" style=\"width:290px;height:413px\" width=\"290\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev.valaisfilmcommission.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Foudre.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/dev.valaisfilmcommission.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Foudre-210x300.jpeg 210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Maxime Rappaz&#8217;s &#8220;Laissez-moi&#8221; will also be on the festival program for its North American debut.
